Welcome to our blog for Statistics in Health Science.
We are a group of people from NR0818,subgroup 2.
Our group memebers consist:
NURUL AIN!
AZMI!
ESTHER!

EILEEN!
ZAHIDAH!
Our project Question
Do you agree with Leonardo's work on how the size of one body part is related to that of another body part for the purpose of instructing painters on how to paint the human body?
Specify research goals
-We would like to study the relationship between the waist circumference and the neck circumference.
-Is there a relationship between one's circumference of waist to one's circumference of neck.
Review the literature
Formulate research question hypotheses
-Null Hypothesis: There is no relationship between one's circumference of waist to one's circumference of neck.
-Research Hypothesis: There is a relationship between one's circumference of waist to one's circumference of neck.
Soon we'll be updating on our first trial. Stay tune!:D

our instuments, measuring tape X2 and record slips X60
our target sample are 20 males and 60 females between the age of 16-30 years old.
our recording material

the measuring process

Our Target Population
-40 females and 20 males
-Ages between 16 to 30 years old.
-Participants were selected by accidental sampling method in NYP compound.
-Our participants can be of any race.
-Participants must not have any deformities of neck, spine or growth retardation.
How do we go about collecting our samples?
1)5 person in our group, each is assigned different roles. 1 photographer, 1 recorder, 3 measurers.
2)We approached any students or teachers from SHS, between the age of 16 to 30 years of age, kindly asked them if they could spare us some of their time and explained to them what we needed them to do.
3)We got them to stand up from their seat.
4)First we measure the circumference of their neck. To ensure accuracy, participants were to look straight and their hands were placed at the sides of their body.
5)Next, we measure the circumference of the waist. to ensure accuracy, participants were to place their feets together and standing tall. They should not be holding the breath.
6)The measurement was conducted one time only.
7)We thanked the participants and ensured he/she that it would be keep annonymous.
These steps were to repeat 60 times to get our reading of 60, 40 females and 20 males. However,we did only 22 females and 11 males as we realised we had made several mistakes which made us unable to continue. As it will be of no use even if we proceed.
Things that did not went well:
-We did not standardise the way we should measure
`at first we measure according to where we think the neck and waist are
`however after few measurements we find that it lacks of standarisation, so we said we will measure 5cm above the hip bone
`later we found out, not everyone knows where is their hip bone and also some cannot be easily felt.
-We did not have an inform consent for the participants to acknowledge the participation in our research procedure
-We did not include repeated readings to find the average reading.
What improvements we made after this first trial:
-We researhed on Da Vinci and realised that there is difference between male's upper trunk length and female's upper trunk length.
-We also had an informed consent done up to let the participants know the research procedure in order to facilitate better understanding and cooperation.
-We also had 2 readings for each participants to be able to have an average, as it allows more accurate results.
